Celtic supporters absolutely rinse rivals for winter break stance as embarrassing report emerges

The Celtic support has absolutely torn into Rangers for their embarrassing reported decision to move the winter break forward and try to get fans back into stadia.

Yesterday, it was announced by the Scottish Government that, from Boxing Day, only 500 supporters will be allowed to enter football grounds in Scotland [Sky News]. This is due to the rise of the Omicron variant of Covid-19. The decision is to be reviewed in 3 weeks’ time.

This led to Celtic leading the calls for the 3-week winter break to be moved forward in an attempt to get more supporters into the affected fixtures.

However, reports have since emerged that despite having the backing of 10 clubs, Rangers are one of 2 who don’t want the break moved forward. The Scottish Sun reported the move last night with the Ibrox club made to look extremely selfish and embarrassing. Ross County are said to be the other Premiership club against the move.

Rangers, of course, have 2 away trips to Aberdeen and Celtic Park coming up in the coming weeks. No surprises then that they don’t want supporters in stadiums for those games if they can avoid it. They did, after all, thrive in front of absolutely nobody last season.

Celtic fans call it as it is – Rangers refusing to put supporters first

This is quite simple. Rangers would rather supporters didn’t get in as it improves their chances of a result on the day. Nothing to do with the good of the game or the best interests of the supporters. Their reported verdict on this comes across strongly as one of extreme greed.

Laughable too considering they were allowed to sell out Ibrox for the first Glasgow derby of the season. Nothing like a bit of sporting integrity eh?

It’s not as if come 3 weeks’ time that the game in Scotland is going to be back to normal. If anything, the Scottish Government will likely only allow a greater number of spectators into the grounds without allowing them to reach capacity. The fact Rangers won’t even entertain that really does show them up.

If this is a football club that wants to prove it can dominate in front of fans, show some courage and help allow Scottish football fans back into games. Hearing their excuse for this decision will be intriguing, because they really don’t have any logical and fair explanation that will reflect well on them.

And the Celtic supporters have been the first to notice it. Reacting to Rangers’ reported stance on a winter break, the Hoops fans flooded to Twitter to call them out:
