The Celtic supporters have been gloriously tearing into Rangers after the latest update on fans returning to Scottish stadiums.
The Daily Record last night produced a report citing a Hampden source who stated Celtic vs Hibernian will be played in front of a full house on January 17th. That would mean the Hoops and the 10 others who voted to move the winter break will be vindicated in their decision.

Indeed, the decision was made to give fans the best chance of returning to stadiums. As things stand, only 500 supporters are allowed into Scottish football grounds. However, that finally looks set to change upon the resumption of action for Celtic on January 17th.
An official announcement from the Scottish Government has still to be made on this. But quite rightly fans are now expectant after the latest update last night. Sturgeon also said she expects current restrictions to be in place until January 17th. That also offers real hope the government are eyeing up that date to allow more fans access into grounds once more.
Rangers, meanwhile, were one of 2 clubs to vote against bringing the winter break forward [Scottish Sun]. Since then, their fans have mind-bogglingly tried to accuse the Hoops of being fearful of playing them. Indeed, the derby has been pushed back to February 2nd.
Celtic look set to have the last laugh as fans goad Rangers
But all those clubs who voted for the winter break to be moved forward look set to have the last laugh. They deserve a big pat on the back for putting the best interests of the game and the supporters forward.
If Rangers were true champions, they would be absolutely salivating at the prospect of going to Pittodrie and Celtic Park in front of full houses. That’s what football is all about. Surely the prospect of making a mark in those games under those kinds of atmospheres would get them going.
Apparently not. They would much rather have an easier atmosphere and a much more timid environment. Says a lot for their mentality, especially considering they put their own playing interests ahead of that of their supporters.
Not to worry though, Celtic and the rest looked to have saved the day. Hopefully, we get some proper confirmation on this next week from the government.
But for now, the Celtic support are entitled to be poking fun at their rivals. Fair to say that’s exactly what’s been going on over on Twitter. Here’s a taster of some of that reaction:
