East Kilbride have announced that an organised friendly with Celtic B team has been cancelled this week.

Celtic have yet to comment on this after East Kilbride announced the change on social media.

The lack of communication has fuelled speculation among supporters that Celtic’s squad has been stretched by first-team pre-season commitments.

Martin O’Neill has taken the Celtic squad to Ireland for their friendly fixture against Shelbourne and several academy players have been involved in pre-season training.

Celtic yet to explain East Kilbride cancellation

As previously mentioned, Celtic have yet to offer an official explanation for the cancellation of the East Kilbride friendly.

There has been no mention on the club’s official website or even on social media.

The lack of communication has fuelled speculation among some fans that the first-team squad is stretched due to the lack of transfer activity this summer.

Ireland tour could leave Celtic stretched

Celtic have lost 11 players this summer as loan players return to their parent clubs and the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho’s contract expires.

Stephen Welsh and Luis Palma have also left the club and only one player, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, has remained.

Without an explanation from the club, supporters have been left to draw their own conclusions about why the fixture could not go ahead.

The timing, with the first team away and several youngsters involved in pre-season preparations, means questions about squad availability are unlikely to disappear.
