When you look at the Scotland squad that was called-up for the national team’s fixtures this week, one interesting aspect is the make-up of the left-backs.
Former Celtic star Kieran Tierney was in the squad, but is now out of it and is having to self-isolate. Aberdeen’s Andy Considine has been called-up for the games against Slovakia and the Czech Republic, probably as a left-back.
However, the other two left-backs called-up to the original squad were Celtic’s Greg Taylor, and Liverpool’s Premier League winner and Champions League winner Andy Robertson.
Robertson is obviously the first choice left-back for Scotland. After all, he is the team’s captain. However, a lack of playing time for Taylor on international duty might not be a bad thing.
Can get advice from one of World’s best left-backs
That is, as long as he learns from training with Robertson on international duty. Getting some advice from one of the best left-backs in the World can only improve Taylor as a player.

Taylor will be under more pressure at Celtic now with the recent signing of Diego Laxalt. He will know that Laxalt, who is on loan at the Hoops, will want to play on a regular basis to make that deal permanent.
However, it should not be forgotten that Taylor has been a regular starter for Celtic this season. He has started 12 games for the Hoops so far.
Hoops star can make position his own
The left-back position is currently his. He could make it his own for the rest of the season if he can improve his performances.

That is where Robertson, who is a noted Celtic fan, can come in. He could give the Hoops player advise on how to improve aspects of his game, which Taylor can then take into his own performances for Celtic.
Maybe we will see the influence of Robertson on Taylor’s play when Celtic take on Rangers next Saturday. That would be a win-win situation for the player, and the club.
In other news, Tom Rogic can have an impact in the Glasgow derby.
