Neil Lennon has a big decision on who to play at right-back against Ross County on Saturday.
This is the one spot that appears to be up for grabs in the whole squad. Fans will say the position should be Hatem Abd Elhamed’s but this isn’t the case.
Mortiz Bauer has played more recently while Jeremie Frimpong is impressing. Everyone will find out who Lennon rates most following the international break.
Who will Neil Lennon play for Celtic against Ross County?
There are big suggestions that Elhamed could be the player to sit out on Saturday afternoon.
He is recovering from a virus while on international duty with Israel over the past week.
Bauer on the other hand has had a rest as he wasn’t called up by his country. He is the most fresh and played the last game – a defeat away at Livingston.
Elhamed will be looking to get a steady run in the team as he has arguably been the club’s top summer signing.
Both players offer different strengths to the team so it’ll be interesting to see what Lennon goes with. He could go left field and stick Frimpong in from the start and there won’t be many grumbles either.
However, Elhamed and Bauer will both be scratching their heads wondering where they went wrong.
Neil Lennon is creating a potential problem?
The Hoops were crying out for a right-back when Mikael Lustig left in the summer with Jeremy Toljan. The two men didn’t have the best season and the fans were crying out for improvement.
In came Elhamed and Frimpong permanently while Bauer is on loan.
Now Lennon must find the best way to rotate them all, particularly Elhamed and Bauer. Unfortunately, this means the other is missing out – but let’s not forget Elhamed is our player and is better.
Elhamed should be the starter and the Irishman shouldn’t be swayed by anyone else. Lennon must back his man to the hilt and prove that he really does trust him.
