Celtic could be set to spend big on a centre-half. As a result that could affect the chances of a player returning to the Hoops on loan next season.
The Daily Record is reporting that the Hoops are in talks with Toulouse over defender Christopher Jullien, who will cost at least £8 million to bring to Glasgow.
If Celtic do manage to sign Jullien, you would imagine that the chances of Filip Benkovic returning to the club on loan would be slim.
Key man until injury
Benkovic was a key man for the Hoops last season until injury ravaged the second-half of his season. Despite that, he showed enough in his performances to show that he has one of the best defenders at the club last season.
Now he has returned to Leicester City. However, not long ago he admitted that he would consider a second loan spell in Glasgow.
Not likely to happen
The chances of that happening now aren’t great. Celtic aren’t likely to bring in two defenders to compete with Jozo Simunovic and Kristoffer Ajer.
Perhaps the only way Benkovic could return to the club would be if there is no deal agreed with Jullien. The Hoops could make a move for him then.
However, should that move fall thorough, Benkovic could return. The fans would no doubt like to see him back at the club, but not at the expense of a permanent signing.
