Read MoreCocky Fashion Sakala may be about to rue his arrogant Celtic Instagram post
Life comes at you fast as they say, and that could very well be the case for Rangers striker Fashion Sakala on Sunday.
Celtic will face Rangers at Parkhead in a clash that will more or less end our rivals’ title hopes should they fail to win. Victory for the Hoops and we’ll be 9 points clear with only 3 games to go. Not forgetting the incredibly superior goal difference we still currently have.
The game comes 2 weeks after Celtic were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Rangers at Hampden. And after playing a part in the winning goal, Sakala showed his arrogance as he said the following on Instagram:
In the image, Sakala is seen trying to claim a goal he didn’t actually score after Starfelt put into his own net in unfortunate fashion. He, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Stephen Welsh are all on the deck ruing the moment.
It was an extremely snide remark given he actually missed the ball and was playing against centre-backs that had already played 110 minutes before he came onto the pitch.
However, this weekend, Sakala looks set to start at Celtic Park. With Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe sidelined, he’s the only credible option they have. His direct opponents? The dominant pairing of CCV and Starfelt.

Fashion Sakala yet to show anything of note against Celtic
Not that these comments from the Rangers striker will motivate Starfelt and CCV. The Celtic players are professional enough to know that all they need as an incentive is being 3 points closer to the league championship. But at the same time, Sakala has set himself up for a major fall here.
The Zambian front-man is up against the best defence in Scottish football. A defence he’s really struggled to impress against on 2 occasions at Parkhead and Ibrox. Forget what happened at Hampden – Celtic were absolutely spent come full-time whilst Sakala still barely did anything of note outside of put Starfelt under pressure.
We’ve already had to deal with the hyped-up nonsense of Kemar Roofe in recent derby games. Yet CCV and Starfelt both dealt with him with minimal fuss in February’s 3-0 Parkhead win and this month’s 2-1 Ibrox success. There’s absolutely nothing to suggest Sakala is going to cause them any greater bother.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Rangers man fares against the Cetic duo when they’re not drained after playing for 110 minutes. Sakala labels himself as “still standing” in his message. You would kind of hope so given he had only been on for about 5 minutes.
It’s going to be a different story at Parkhead. Let’s not forget on his last trip to Celtic Park, Sakala’s only real contribution was getting into a scuffle with 16-year-old Ben Doak.
It’s moments like the above Instagram post that make Celtic derby wins all the sweeter. Hopefully, this is something we can truly laugh at come full-time on Sunday.
