At the moment, everyone at Celtic Park will be focused on the upcoming Europa League match against Lazio on Thursday.

That is understandable, as it is a very big game for the Hoops. However, thoughts will soon turn back to Celtic’s Premiership schedule when the Lazio game has been completed.

In the next week, the Hoops face two league games in a week, as they first travel to Aberdeen on Sunday, then take on St Mirren at home next Wednesday.

Celtic will want six points from those games to maintain their spot at the top of the league. However, it is unlikely that the same team will be selected for both games.

It will make sense to make changes

The St Mirren game in particular could see some changes to the side. Neil Lennon has shown that he isn’t afraid to give youth players a chance this season, as the emergence of Jeremie Frimpong shows.

The timing of the St Mirren clash could suit the Hoops when it comes to giving some more Celtic youngsters a chance.

Especially as only three days later, the Hoops take on Hibs in the Betfred Cup semi-final. Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see some young players feature in the squad.

Trio playing well in reserves

Jeremie Frimpong seems to be a prime candidate. But there are a trio of starlets who are performing well for the reserves who could feature.

The trio are Lee O’Connor, Karamoko Demebele and Armstrong Okoflex. The three have starred for the Hoops at the level of reserve football.

Demeble has of course already made his first-team debut, and the other two can’t be that far behind. It would be too much to expect the trio to start the game. But there is an argument that they should be featured on the bench.

Sure, it would be a bit of a gamble. However, unless these players get game time we won’t know if they are good enough for the first-team or not.
