Daizen Maeda’s recent return to form has come at the exact moment Celtic need it, but to strengthen their position ahead of the summer transfer window.

Martin O’Neill singled Daizen Maeda out for his performance after he scored a brace in Celtic’s 3-1 win against Falkirk.

That’s goals in consecutive games for the Japan international and, after a season where he has looked nowhere near his best, his return to form has come at a perfect time.

Was that Daizen Maeda’s best performance of the season?

Daizen Maeda’s form comes at the perfect time in the title race

His two goals at Parkhead saw Maeda move into double figures for the season and deliver his best performance of the season.

After failing to secure a summer move away, the forward has clearly been dealing with the disappointment of not being able to find a new challenge.

While that has cost the side on multiple occasions this campaign, if he can perform well in the final five games, Celtic will be crowned champions.

Additionally, it would also improve his chances of being named in Japan’s World Cup squad.

Form directly translates into transfer leverage

This summer will be Celtic’s biggest rebuild since the Ange Postecoglou era and Maeda will be one of those who is expected to depart.

Unlike others, the 28-year-old will be a reluctant sale; however, he will bring in more money than most.

At what price would you consider selling Daizen Maeda?

There were fears that his valuation would drop but, by turning in title-winning performances between now and the end of the campaign, it will put the Hoops in a stronger position to replace him, as well as get the funds they deserve.
