Davie Hay has admitted that he excited by the possibility of the Hoops signing Toulouse centre-back Christopher Jullien.
Celtic are reportedly in talks with the French side over the defender, with Toulouse hoping to receive £10 million for the player.
The former Hoops boss believes the signing would be a statement of intent ahead of next season.

“Certainly has the physical presence”
“He certainly has the physical presence, and the French market is one that Celtic have exploited well in the past” Hay said, as reported by the Evening Times.
“Talk of a potential bid of £10m coming from Celtic, which would break the transfer record for the second summer in-a-row, is a reflection on how important this season is” he concluded.

The Hoops could accelerate the move for Jullien following the apparent breakdown of the deal to sign David Turnbull.
Club will want deal done as soon as possible
Celtic will want to get a big transfer deal done as soon as possible. That would show that it is business as usual despite the Turnbull issue.

Jullien could be that deal, especially if he costs £10 million, which would be a club record for the Hoops. As Hay says, the Hoops have done well with French players in the past.
Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard are the most recent examples of that. If Jullien turns out to be as good as those two players, it will be a very successful transfer.
