Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has admitted that he expects more bids to come in for Dons defender Scott McKenna.

The question that has to be asked is – will Celtic be among the clubs bidding?

“There is a real possibility that clubs will come back in and every chance there could be more clubs than have been in for him already”he told the Press and Journal.

“We are not encouraging offers, but we anticipate there will be other ones” he concluded.

Judging by McInnes’ comments he expects a few clubs to be interested in the player.

Celtic have had a bid for the player rejected in the past. A bid of £5 million was reportedly rejected in June. A previous bid of £3.5 million was rejected a year ago.

Those bids were made before the Hoops spent £7 million on Christopher Jullien though. Will Celtic still be interested in the player now that they spent big on a centre-back?

That remains to be seen. Perhaps Neil Lennon would like to pair Jullien with McKenna in a centre-back duo. Should McKenna join Celtic though, it would probably mean that a centre-back leaves.

As the English transfer window closes in a week’s time, any clubs in England that want to sign McKenna will have to move fast.

That could tempt Celtic to submit a new bid for the player very soon. Only time will tell if the Hoops are still interested in the player.
