Following the 3-1 win over Sarajevo in the Champions League qualifiers, Celtic return to action on Saturday to take on French side Rennes in a pre-season friendly at Celtic Park.
Normally this would not be a big game, but it is slightly different on this occasion. It will be Celtic’s only pre-season friendly of the season at home, against a fairly big team.
The side selected by Neil Lennon for the game will be interesting. There could well be starts for recent arrival Christopher Jullien and Leigh Griffiths.
Two players that may start game
Two players that could be under consideration to feature in the game are Armstrong Okoflex and Karamoko Dembele.
Both players featured in the squad for the Hoops’ 2-1 win over Hearts at the end of last season, but only Dembele made it onto the pitch.
Need game time ahead of domestic season
The duo are very highly-rated. It would be a good move from Lennon to give both players some game time ahead of the domestic season.
Should the pair stand out against a team that plays in France’s top division, it may well give the Celtic manager thoughts about including the pair in his first-team squad.
Normally a friendly wouldn’t attract that much attention. This upcoming match against Rennes could be a different story. A main reason for that could be the team selected by Neil Lennon.
