Despite paying £7 million for him in the summer, it would not be a surprise to see Christopher Jullien miss out for Celtic against Cluj.
Neil Lennon has indicated that the first choice centre-back pairing for the moment will be Kristoffer Jullien and Jozo Simunovic.
That is to allow Jullien to get used to Scottish football. In a way that makes sense, although it is a bit odd that a £7 million player needs time to get going.
Been left on the bench on occasion
It is interesting that both Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo and Hatem Abd Elhamed were put into the Hoops starting line-up right away. Whilst Jullien has been left on the bench on occasion.
It would not be a surprise to see that happen against Cluj. Simunovic is now available for the Hoops after serving his domestic suspension.
Player should not see this as a slight
Therefore, Lennon has the chance to play his preferred partnership once again. That should not be taken a slight on Jullien.
There is no doubt that in time, he will be one of the Hoops’ first choice centre-backs. However, at the moment it seems that Jullien will be the third choice centre-back at the club.
He will probably play for the Hoops in the upcoming Betfred Cup tie against Dunfermline on Saturday. Aside from that though, it looks like he will have to bide his time.
