Ending poor Easter Road run would be clearest sign yet that Celtic are back on track

Are Celtic on the way back to form after a poor run? That is what Neil Lennon and the Hoops support will be hoping after the 4-1 win over Motherwell in the last game before the international break.

That performance was what you would expect from Celtic, full of energy and attacking invention. However, it was Celtic’s first good display in a few weeks after probably some of the poorest performances under Neil Lennon.

Don’t have the best record at venue

Now the Hoops are set to return to action after the international break against Hibernian at Easter Road on Saturday. Celtic don’t have the best record there in recent years, and a win at what is a bit of a bogey ground would be the clearest indication yet that Celtic are back on track.

The Hoops have not won at Easter Road in the league for six years. Neil Lennon’s side might have won in the Scottish Cup at Easter Road in 2019. However, the last five league visits have ended in draw or defeat.

Indeed, Celtic’s last league win at Easter Road came in Neil Lennon’s first spell back in 2014, a 4-0 victory. With Celtic having such a poor league record recently at Easter Road, there is no doubt that many ‘neutral’ observers would tip the Hoops to drop points.

Returning players could complicate matters

However, a convincing win against Jack Ross’ side would be the clearest indication yet that Celtic are back on track. What could complicate matters is the fact that many of Celtic’s players are just returning from international duty.

That could make looks to be a difficult game even harder. However, Celtic have long been at their best when our backs are to the wall.

That could happen at Easter Road. Two away wins in a row in the league at difficult venues would show that Celtic are getting back on track. The players are good enough. Let’s hope they get the win and make a point that they aren’t finished yet.

In other news, Peter Grant has talked about leaving Celtic and missing out on stopping 10 in a row.
