Former Celtic youngster Armstrong Okoflex is already lighting it up with new club West Ham United.

Okoflex has been included in David Moyes’ pre-season plans despite initially looking like featuring for the under-23s when he signed in the summer.

Okoflex impressed in a recent friendly against Leyton Orient, and made the most of his chance against Reading yesterday too. The young attacker was given 45 minutes against the Championship side and was one of the stars of the show.

The West Ham fans appear to be impressed with Okoflex’s dribbling ability. And it’s fair to say he’s making the most of his big opportunity under Moyes.

Now, an opportunity could open up for him at Celtic Park on Saturday. After spending nearly three years at Parkhead as a young prodigy, the winger will be returning for our final warm-up match against the Hammers.

During his time at Celtic Park, Okoflex failed to make the breakthrough. He was only given two senior appearances despite regularly training with the first-team.

Okoflex was a prime example of a player who simply couldn’t find the path from youth football to first-team. Something Celtic have struggled to find for far too many talented youngsters.

Now, he finds himself with a massive opportunity. A chance to be potentially playing Premier League football. And at a period when he looked as though his long-term future was destined to be with the under-23s.

Granted, it’s a different story when the season begins. Moyes will need to show courage to throw him in against EPL defenders. But nobody can say Okoflex isn’t taking his chances with his new club.

And it appears fans of the East London club are all for what they’ve seen so far. Here’s a look at how they reacted to yesterday’s display on Twitter:
