Former Killie boss Lee Clark tips Greg Taylor to become Celtic regular

New Celtic signing Greg Taylor has been tipped to become a first-team regular under Neil Lennon by former Kilmarnock boss Lee Clark, The Scottish Sun report.

Taylor was a deadline day signing for the Hoops, with the club finally getting around to replacing Kieran Tierney, who left for Arsenal at the start of August.

However, with Boli Bolingoli also looking like a solid choice at left-back, Taylor has a battle on his hands to become number one choice in the position.

Clark was the man who gave him his senior debut for Killie and believes the 21-year-old has the attributes to force his way into Lennon’s team.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said: “He faces a big challenge to get in their first team and an even bigger one to stay there.

“He won’t be overawed by being at a big club, though, and he will cope with the unbelievable pressure of playing in front of fans who expect you to win every game.

“I’ve no doubt that he’ll become an automatic starter for Neil Lennon. He has a heart the size of a dustbin lid and doesn’t shirk from anything.”

Who will Lennon go with?

At the moment, the position appears to be Bolingoli’s to lose despite an up and down start the club.

Lennon needs to go with the £3m signing (The Herald) after his performance at Ibrox. It was the kind of confidence boosting display that could be the making of his Celtic career.

Taylor will undoubtedly get opportunities eventually too, but right now Bolingoli deserves to be backed by the manager.

The former Killie man needs to earn his spot. If he eventually does displace the Belgian then it shouldn’t come easy. That will serve him better in the long run than immediately bringing him into the side.

With genuine competition in the position for the first time in a while, Lennon has the chance to get the best out of both and motivate them to push themselves like never before.
