Former Celtic scout John Park has credit Neil Lennon as the man who is responsible for Virgil Van Dijk’s meteoric rise in the game.
Lennon was Hoops boss when Van Dijk joined the Hoops from Utrecht. Since then the player has gone from strength to strength, currently spearheading Liverpool’s quest for the Premier League title.
All the credit to one man

Even though Park worked on the deal, he gives all the credit to Lennon.
“He has developed into a top, top drawer defender but I’m not being disrespectful to anyone when I say that it was Neil Lennon who signed him” Park told the Daily Record.

“I didn’t make the final decision, it’s the manager who has the final say.”
Remarks will intrigue fans
Park’s remarks will certainly intrigue Hoops fans concerned about the future of the club. Lennon is of course back at Celtic as interim manager.

Should he become the permanent boss again, he will be judged on how he does when it comes to transfers.
Any fans unsure about Lennon’s potential appointment, could be assured by the words from Park. If Lennon is able to unearth more gems like Van Dijk, it could be worth giving him the job as Hoops boss.
It should be said though, that the chances of finding another player like Van Dijk are few and far between. Perhaps Lennon deserves the chance to try to find another Van Dijk though. That is a decision Peter Lawwell has to make sooner rather than later.
