Two players who played a key role in Celtic’s opening goal against Rennes on Thursday were Greg Taylor and James Forrest. The duo linked up on the wing in the move which ended with Lewis Morgan scoring the Hoops’ first goal in the 3-1 win.

Interestingly, Taylor has revealed that he and Forrest worked on the move in training with Hoops assistant manager John Kennedy.

“We’d actually worked on the move that preceded the first goal at training on Wednesday,” Taylor said, as reported by the Celtic website.

“Myself, John Kennedy and Jamesy had worked on that move, where James makes the run from inside, so it was great to see it work and also to get a goal from it to open the scoring” he concluded.

It is perhaps telling that Taylor credits Kennedy with playing a part in the goal. Kennedy seems to be a very influential figure at Celtic Park. Celtic’s recent run of nine wins in a row could be down to him as much as Neil Lennon and the Hoops players.

Of course, Kennedy could have recently left Celtic, as Hibs were reportedly interested in making him their new manager.

However, Kennedy committed himself to Celtic, much to the delight of Neil Lennon, who recently suggested that Kennedy could be a future Celtic manager.

Kennedy seems to be very popular with the Celtic squad. Christopher Jullien recently credited him with helping him adapt to life at Celtic. It is interesting to note that Kennedy was working with players on the attacking side of their game, when you consider that he was a centre-back in his playing days.

The pairing of Kennedy and Neil Lennon may have only come together in February. However, the duo seem to be working well together.

Kennedy seems to have a big influence on how the team is playing, and as long as Celtic keep winning long my that continue.
