Here come the absurd Celtic transfer stories - can we not just enjoy the Ange Postecoglou era?

Like night follows day, when Celtic players perform well, they get linked with transfers away from the club.

In the last week alone there have been widespread reports that Josip Juranovic and Liel Abada could be set for summer exits as clubs from around Europe start to pay attention to what Ange Postecoglou is doing in Glasgow.

There’s a reason we haven’t carried them on 67 Hail Hail despite the shock value a good transfer story creates.

Can we not just enjoy them for a full season first before indulging in this kind of nonsense?

Postecoglou’s group have barely played together at full strength yet and already we have to entertain this absurd notion some of our top stars are about to walk away.

It doesn’t even make that much sense.

Abada, for example, signed a five-year deal last summer and is still only 20. Yes, he’s had an excellent impact at Celtic but that’s a long contract and one which would require a mega-money bid in the summer to buy the Bhoys out of, considering his potential.

Juranovic also signed a five-year deal to 2026, putting Celtic firmly in pole position when it comes to any transfer talk this summer. Unless a club comes in with Kieran Tierney money or higher, it’s just not going to happen given his importance to the team already.

The Croatian is consistently speaking highly of his time in Glasgow, telling reporters last week the dressing room already feels like a family and that he’s made a home in the city.

Rumours are natural, they will happen. But as a Celtic supporter, I have to say I am not up for entertaining them when every noise coming out of the club right now is about the long-term, about achieving in Scotland and then making it back to the Champions League.

I’m not expecting too much movement out of the club when those goals are still on the line and Postecoglou is still building his exciting project.

Leave the noise to others and just enjoy this group of players.
