Callum McGregor appeared to be in no mood for Sky Sports’ line of questioning after Celtic’s win at Livingston.
The Celtic captain seemed particularly spiky as McGregor fielded questions about Wilfried Nancy’s style, how the players are coping and when it will ‘click’ for the team.
Celtic beat Livingston scoring four goals in a win that showed that this team is up for the fight after coming from behind twice in the opening ten minutes of the game.
And as headlines swirled over the Christmas period about McGregor’s relationship with Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy, the Hoops skipper looked particularly annoyed about the line of questioning that Sky Sports adopted at full time.

As soon as the interview was being aired, Celtic fans may have noticed that McGregor wasn’t his usual chirpy self after a big win.
And it’s little wonder considering all he has had to put up with. And as the post-match Sky Sports interview continued, what the Celtic captain did was just what the club, and Nancy, need right now.
McGregor said on Sky Sports, “Yeah, it’s only been a few weeks. So you know, we’re working so hard.
“The players are working so hard to get to grips with what the manager is asking us to do some fantastic players with massive quality.
“So the more that we can get them on the ball and creating chances, then that’ll be good. And then we just keep working every day to get better on the defensive side as well.”
Sky Sports’ Gordon Duncan: “In your leadership role here and overseeing things and being the link between manager and player, how do you feel players are adapting to this new style?”
McGregor: “Yeah, they’re working ever so hard, you know, as you’d expect, but really happy with the way the players are applying themselves.
“You know, being asked to do a lot, change a lot in terms of what the manager’s looking for. And every three days is a game.
“So it’s difficult, but the players are working so, so hard, and really well the last couple of games. You can see it start to come together. So big credit has to go to them as well.”
Duncan: “How close do you think is the clicking and how much still further to go?”
McGregor: “Yeah, obviously, game by game we seem to get better. So we have to keep working. It’s always the same, even when you’re doing well, you’ve got to keep working hard to stay on it.
“So there’s a lot to improve on, but we will keep working. And obviously the aim is to win this league. So every three days we’ve got to be there and competing and being ready to push.”

Heaping praise on his Celtic teammates while publicly backing Nancy was a masterclass in how to handle a line of questioning that is designed to draw headlines.
The Celtic captain wasn’t having any of it, and despite fielding three questions about Nancy’s style and none about the 4-2 win, McGregor looked like a man who has had enough of the constant negativity surrounding the tactical elements of the Hoops’ formation.

However, now that Nancy has started to do just that, it appears that is not enough for the Celtic snipers out there.
