Hugh Keevins Celtic title claim looks worse after Rangers’ defeat to Motherwell

Hugh Keevins has made a definitive call on Celtic’s title chances, leaving no room to backtrack, and the claim looks really foolish now after Rangers’ defeat to Motherwell at Ibrox.

Keevins has stated Celtic have no chance of winning the Premiership title, and his stance was pretty unequivocal.

Not only did he predict Celtic had no chance of defending their crown, Keevins backed that position with a set of fixture predictions, outlining where Celtic will drop points in the run-in.

With four games to go in the season and Rangers blinking first, the Superscoreboard pundit has been left with egg on his face after he also made a promise to Celtic fans after his prediction was made.

Will we hunt Hearts down and win the title?

Celtic title claim becomes a fixed verdict

Speaking before the weekend fixtures had even kicked off, Keevins left himself wide open to criticism with this bold statement.

Keevins said, “I got all sorts of complaints here because I said that Celtic had zero chance of winning the title.

“And Scott Alan can confirm that I told the audience last Saturday night when we were out that Celtic had zero chance of winning the Premiership title.

“And I stand by that and I give this promise. If Celtic do win the title, and I’ve said it here once before, then I’m a mug. And you can clip that and play it to your heart’s content.”

After being challenged on whether that allowed any flexibility, he doubled down and removed any remaining room for revision.

“No, I’m not open to any other possibility,” Keevins continued, “I’m simply giving you the freedom to call me a mug if I’m wrong. Celtic will beat Falkirk tomorrow.

“They will draw or lose to Hibs at Easter Road. They will draw or lose to Motherwell at Fir Park. I suspect Rangers will win at Celtic Park.

“And I’ll leave the Celtic Hearts game on the final day of the season until I see what’s going on in the final day of the season.”

Celtic context and recent results do not support certainty

The remaining Celtic fixtures show multiple games still to be played, including home games against Hearts and Rangers.

The current Premiership table confirms the title race is still live, with plenty of points still available. There is no evidence in the standings that removes Celtic from contention entirely.

Predicting dropped points is not the same as proving they will happen and as every Celtic fan knows, Keevins has a history of getting Celtic predictions completely wrong.

Keevins has set a line that cannot be moved even after the weekend results. Celtic remain in contention, and the “zero chance” position simply does not hold up.
