Celtic’s plans for next season are becoming clearer by the day. The club are starting to make moves in the transfer market and some of last season’s signings are bedding in nicely.

One such player is Ukrainian winger Maryan Shved. The 21-year-old has been pictured getting to grips with Neil Lennon’s training session in Austria. The youngster will wear the number 20 jersey for the club this season, as per the photo. But is he a tad unlucky not to get a more high-profile number?

Should “Shved 7” have happened?

The winger signed from Karpaty Lviv may have had designs on the number seven jersey. “Shved 7” has a certain ring to it, and not just because of the English rock band “Shed Seven”. The attacker looks like he has the ability to get fans of their seats like several of the players to wear the number seven jersey in the past.

Of course, giving him such an illustrious number would have piled more pressure on before a ball was kicked. Perhaps that’s part of the clubs thinking as they offer him the more reserved 20.

But some players thrive on the spotlight, knowing great things are expected of them. Shved gives you the impression he’s that kind of player. It will be intriguing to see if he’s still number 20 this time next season as he embarks on his second campaign in the Hoops.
