At the moment it seems like only a matter of time before Olivier Ntcham leaves Celtic for a new club. The player admitted to L’Equipe that it would be best for his career if he left the Hoops this summer.
Unsurprisingly, those comments did not go down well with Celtic boss Neil Lennon. However, it was recently claimed by French football journalist Nicolas Filhol that one of the team’s reportedly linked with Ntcham, Marseille, are not currently interested in buying the player.
Signed a contract extension recently
If no team meets Celtic’s asking price for Ntcham, then he will not be leaving the Hoops in the summer. It should also be remembered that the player signed a four-year contract extension less than a year ago.
Therefore, Celtic hold all the aces. As a result, the player could still have a future with the club. However, that could only be decided after clear the air talks with Neil Lennon.
Apology could make a difference
Should any talks be positive, then Ntcham, perhaps if he apologises for his earlier comments, will no doubt be welcomed back into the fold by his team-mates.
That might not be the case with some supporters, who will no doubt be unhappy with Ntcham’s comments. However, on his day he is one of the best players in Scotland.
Therefore, Celtic would be delighted to have a committed Ntcham at the club. Only time will tell if that turns out to be the case.
