It has been a productive 10-day tour of Austria/Czech Republic for Ange Postecoglou and his squad.

The Bhoys rounded off their European training camp with a solid 4-2 win over Banik Ostrava as the Celts showed their quality after a slow start.

It has certainly been an impressive pre-season in an attacking sense for the Hoops, scoring 14 goals across the three games.

One man who has had his hand in scoring two of those goals is Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley.

The Danish under-21 internationalist scored the opener in the 3-3 draw against Rapid Vienna before producing another brilliant long-range strike this evening to put the Hoops ahead in the first half.

Celtic supporters were left impressed by O’Riley during his first six months at the club after arriving from MK Dons in January.

The 21-year-old became a key man in the midfield for Ange Postecoglou as Celtic went on to lift the Scottish Premiership title.

After a successful first six months in the green and white, expectations were high for O’Riley heading into pre-season for the 2022/23 campaign.

We are only three pre-season fixtures in, but the former Fulham man hasn’t disappointed with his performances.

We may have seen the exit of experienced attacking midfielder Tom Rogic this summer, which would have come as a blow to Postecoglou.

However, O’Riley has shown that our replacement for the Socceroos internationalist is already at the club and is primed to be a huge player this season.

Personally, I am really looking forward to seeing O’Riley kick on and at 21 years old, there is still lots of development to come from the youngster.

Alongside the likes of Callum McGregor, the midfielder could be the driving force for this side as we look to build on the great success achieved in Ange Postecoglou’s first campaign in charge.

The early signs are extremely promising, and O’Riley will be raring to go by the time the competitive action kicks off at the end of this month.
