James Forrest could do with a big display at Tynecastle

Amidst all of the glory of our recent displays, one Celtic man has flattered to deceive a little. But that could all change tonight at one of his favourite venues.

We’re talking about James Forrest. The usually consistent winger has been a little off colour in recent weeks and we’re not quite sure what’s up. Perhaps it’s just a little blip, but with so many big games on the horizon, we could really do with him finding his top level again.

Forrest hasn’t netted in his past five starts, and that’s a fair old drought going by his high standards. The 28-year-old is still well on course to beat his top goal tally for a season at Celtic. That record currently stands at 17 goals, a total he’s managed in his past few seasons. But with 13 already to his name this term, he’s only a handful away from registering a new best.

Forrest already has some good Tynecastle memories

If he’s looking for the perfect chance to jolt back into life then Tynecastle could provide the perfect setting. Forrest has excelled down Gorgie way before – having the distinction of scoring there in both Brendan Rodgers’ and Neil Lennon’s first league matches during the past few seasons.

Forrest netted the opener in both dramatic 2-1 wins and a similar start at Tynecastle tonight could pave the way for another impressive result.

The winger has netted seven goals in total against the Jambos (fitbastats.com) – a total only bettered against St. Johnstone and Motherwell. He will likely be up against teenage Hearts full-back Aaron Hickey – a player who kept him pretty quiet in May’s Scottish Cup final.

So a big night awaits for Forrest as he aims to get back to doing what he does best. The venue could hardly be finer.
