Junior Adamu makes Schalke claim Celtic fans will question

Junior Adamu has sealed a move to Bundesliga outfit Schalke and described himself as the kind of striker Celtic supporters rarely saw during his loan spell in Glasgow.

After sealing a three-year deal with the German club, Adamu was describing his style of play to the Schalke fans and what he said will certainly raise the eyebrows of the Celtic support.

Because after five months, six appearances, 230 minutes in a Celtic jersey and just one goal, the player Adamu described certainly wasn’t the one the Parkhead support watched in the green and white Hoops.

What Junior Adamu has told Schalke after Celtic loan spell

Introducing himself to the Schalke fans, Adamu described the kind of forward Celtic supporters expected to see far more often.

Adamu told Schalke’s official website, ““He told me [Austrian teammate Dejan Ljubičić] I was absolutely making the right move.

“I’m a player who can make runs in behind, I am dangerous in the box and I can score goals. Schalke just feels like a really good fit for me.”

As well as his solitary goal for Celtic, Adamu only managed to hit the back of the net on seven occasions during his three-season spell at Freiburg.

Celtic fans rarely saw that version of Junior Adamu

To be fair to Adamu, he did score a crucial goal for Celtic in the 97th minute of the Scottish Cup tie against Dundee back in February of this year.

Had he not done that, Celtic were heading out of the competition and the double would not have been won.

However, he didn’t do enough to convince Martin O’Neill as he was left out of Celtic’s matchday squads in the final seven games of the season.

Having said all that, we wish Adamu well at Schalke. His time at Celtic never worked out but he did play his part in Celtic winning the double and fans will never forget that.
