Kieran Tierney recently mentioned that he believes that some Celtic fans won’t ever forgive him for leaving the club in the summer. The Hoops left-back moved to Arsenal for a Scottish record fee of  £25 million.

“I don’t know if it will pass, some people probably won’t ever forgive me” Tierney said, as reported by the Daily Record.

“Everyone has their choice, some people will support me and others won’t. I gave Celtic 15 years, I put my body through a lot playing through injuries and gave everything.”

It is unfortunate that Tierney feels that some fans will not forgive him for moving on from the club. Those fans that do believe that are in the wrong, as Tierney deserves to be remembered as a Celtic hero.

He might still be at the start of his footballing career. However, as he says he did give everything in his time at the club. When fit, he was an ever present in the side, and was a key man for the Celtic team that went 69 domestic matches without defeat.

He was also an integral part of the team which only last season completed the ‘treble treble’. Players move on from clubs all the time. It has happened at Celtic for many years.

Even though Tierney is a committed Celtic fan, the club couldn’t turn down the money that was on offer from Arsenal. It is the most money a Scottish club has ever received for a transfer, which should not be forgotten about.

When Tierney eventually returns to Celtic Park, he should be given a standing ovation from the support. His role in phenomenal domestic success the Hoops have had should not be forgotten about.

Hopefully the fans that Tierney mentions – which will be a small minority – remember what the player did for Celtic and all the good memories he created.
