Neil Lennon is in the media again trying to justify this tragedy of a Celtic season, but it’s just further proof Celtic need change as soon as as possible.
It’s well accepted at this point that the Bhoys boss is going to be in charge until the end of the season.
However, if I had my way, I’d say goodbye to him now and let Celtic start with a clean slate.
I’m tired of the rhetoric, and the excuses.
If it’s not pretty naked attempts at currying fan favour with salvos against the Scottish Government and media outlets, it’s the plain absurdity of defending his record as manager this year.
Today’s comments suggest he doesn’t think this season is the ‘unmitigated disaster’ it’s made out to be.
Out of context, a ridiculous comment. In context, not much better.
The full quote from Neil Lennon in The Daily Record reads: “We still have a lot of work to do and a lot of improvements to make. But it is not the unmitigated disaster that everyone makes it out to be and we want to finish the season as strongly as possible and see where that takes us.
“We’re looking at every game on its own merit. We’re not setting targets. We’re looking at the next game against Ross County. They are fighting for their lives and we can’t afford to drop points.
“We need to try to keep our run going and not worry about what’s going on elsewhere. If we take it to beyond the split, then so be it.”
Great, so the height of our ambition now is taking the so-called title race past the top and bottom six split. In this season of all seasons.
No doubt this will be taken as some sort of achievement if it happens – only in the mind of Neil Lennon of course.
He is now a lame-duck manager and it’s actively harming our chances of planning for next season. I don’t see the good in drawing all of this out any further.

The manager seems pretty sick of his job, of dealing with the media, and Covid-19 restrictions, and the supporters. I’m pretty sick of him too.
That, on top of dreadful result after dreadful result this season, is enough to call time on this managerial reign.
It should be up to season ticket holders and other Celtic supporters to decide whether this season has been an ‘unmitigated disaster’ or not.
For the record, Neil, it very much has been.
In other news, David Turnbull has been winning high praise from Michael Stewart again.
