If this leaked Adidas retro shirt goes on sale, they have produced something supporters will appreciate. But another Lisbon Lions tribute also raises an awkward question for Celtic. How many anniversary kits are enough?

Celtic have already released a third kit and a new home kit to pay tribute to the Lisbon Lions and now look set to cash in again after Footy Headlines leaked another anniversary collection.

A leaked Adidas Stadium collection claims Celtic are set to revive the iconic 1994 template as part of next season’s anniversary range. The reported collection also includes a T-shirt and tracksuit.

The shirt is said to feature a white base, a green diamond pattern across the chest and shoulders, gold Adidas stripes and a special anniversary crest.

Celtic’s leaked retro shirt puts Lisbon back in the spotlight

The anniversary crest is the selling point. It marks 60 years since Celtic beat Inter Milan to win the European Cup, the greatest achievement in the club’s history.

Celtic supporters never need convincing to celebrate the Lisbon Lions.

But is another expensive anniversary kit really the right way to mark Lisbon?

Celtic cannot let the Lisbon Lions become a clothing range

A shirt will always sell, especially one linked to the Lisbon Lions. That cannot be where the anniversary ends.

The Lisbon Lions should be the story, not the merchandise.

If Adidas release this collection, they’ll have done their part. Celtic now have to make sure the Lisbon Lions are remembered for more than what is hanging on a rail in the club shop.
