With Neil Lennon in charge of Celtic for the second time, there have been thoughts that he could bring back some players who were such success for him in his first spell as Hoops manager.
For example, the Scottish Sun reported that Lennon was interested in bringing Gary Hooper back to the club if he became Hoops boss.
Time to look ahead
Another player from the past is also available, as Adam Matthews has been released by Sunderland. Even though these players did an excellent job for Celtic, it is time to look ahead and not to the past.
Some people might suggest Matthews as a replacement for Mikael Lustig. However, Matthews might not be the player he was in his first spell.
The same could be said for Hooper. The players were at the best for the Hoops, and have struggled to live up to those heights.
Understandable to a degree
It is understandable to a degree why Neil Lennon would consider bringing Hooper back to the club. On his day, he was a great goalscorer. Celtic are in need of another attacker.
But it is time for the club to look forward under Lennon. Hopefully the players that are signed this summer will be part of the Celtic team for years to come.
That would not be the case if some players from the past returned.
