There is so much for Martin O’Neill to clear up at Celtic, now that he has been confirmed for next season.
Given the nature of what unfolded during the recent campaign, it wouldn’t be a surprise if more than ten players left this summer, and the same number came in.
But perhaps Celtic can make life easier for themselves when trying to strengthen certain areas of the pitch, such as the goalkeeping department.
Kasper Schmeichel has retired, so that opens the door as to who will be Celtic’s number one next season.
Rather than going out and paying a transfer fee for a new number one, just do the easy thing and give Viljami Sinisalo the main gloves.
Should Viljami Sinisalo be the long-term replacement for Kasper Schmeichel?

Viljami Sinisalo should be Celtic’s number one next season
Yes, it’s understandable if Celtic would want to bring in a back-up option because Ross Doohan returned last summer to be the third choice, and currently he is second.
But Sinisalo has earned his flowers, whether that’s under the now-departed Brendan Rodgers or the two spells of O’Neill.
Everyone is aware of how tight this Celtic board can be. You see it with claims that Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham are being offered reduced wages.
Having watched the likes of Schmeichel and Joe Hart provide brilliant but ultimately short-term stability between the posts, the time has come for Celtic to invest in a permanent, long-term number one.
This is exactly where Sinisalo comes into the conversation.
At 24, he fits the profile for a long-term solution perfectly, while also bringing crucial experience and a recent history of strong performances in high-pressure matches for Celtic.
Bringing in another keeper is just a headache that nobody needs. Keep the faith with Sinisalo and deal with the rest of the mess within the squad.
