Celtic supporters were left frustrated after Celtic TV confirmed they would not be showing Wednesday’s clash against Motherwell for viewers in the UK and Ireland.

As the away side at Fir Park, Celtic do not control the domestic pay-per-view rights for the match. That part was understandable.

What supporters really wanted, however, was clarity over whether they would actually be able to watch the game at all. That answer did not arrive until Motherwell stepped in almost three hours later.

Celtic fans, what was your immediate reaction when you saw John Beaton and Andrew Dallas named for Fir Park?

Celtic supporters were left waiting after Celtic TV statement

Celtic TV told supporters: “For those asking, as Celtic are the away club for Wednesday’s game we do not have the pay-per-view broadcast rights within the UK & Ireland.”

The statement also told supporters to “keep an eye” on Motherwell for any updates from the home club.

Technically, Celtic did nothing wrong. The club cannot sell a domestic stream for a match where another club controls the rights.

But from a supporter perspective, the announcement still felt incomplete because it explained the restriction without offering an actual solution.

With the title race entering a crucial stage, many Celtic supporters simply wanted confirmation they would be able to watch the game live.

Motherwell eventually gave Celtic supporters the answer they needed

Almost three hours later, Motherwell finally confirmed the match will be shown live via their pay-per-view streaming service for £15.

That was the information Celtic supporters had been waiting for from the very beginning.

Motherwell deserve credit for eventually providing the clarity supporters needed before such an important match.

Celtic’s original statement was accurate and transparent, but it still left supporters sitting in limbo waiting for a practical answer.

In the end, it was Motherwell who stepped up and delivered it.
