Should Celtic interim manager Neil Lennon become the next permanent Celtic boss, there is a chance he could return to one of his old clubs to sign a player for the Hoops.
One player that he could consider signing for the Hoops is Hibernian goalkeeper Ofir Marciano.
Would provide competition
He would be a good signing for one main reason – he would provide competition to current Hoops number one Scott Bain.
The Hoops don’t currently have a real deputy for Bain. Dorus de Vries is the current number two goalkeeper, but he is set to leave at the end of the season.
Craig Gordon hasn’t featured for months, and is currently dealing with an injury. With his history of injuries, you would have to imagine that he doesn’t have much time left in his Hoops career.
Can challenge current number one
Therefore, the Hoops are in need of a goalkeeper who can challenge Bain. Marciano fits the bill. Celtic fans have already seen the goalkeeper at his best this scene.
He pulled off a series of excellent saves in the goalless draw between Hibs and Celtic last month.
That performance could have been a sign to Lennon that he should make a move for the shot stopper.
The Hoops need to sort other positions first before they sign a goalkeeper. A new centre-back and possibly left and right-back are required.
When it comes to signing a goalkeeper though, Lennon should consider a return to an old stomping ground.
