Dundee United boss Robbie Neilson has hailed Celtic’s latest signing target George Baldock. Neilson worked with the 26-year-old for a brief spell when he was at the MK Dons.
Baldock played for the Dons between 2009 and 2017 before moving on to current club Sheffield United. He’s started 65 games for the Blades over the past two seasons but could be allowed to leave after their promotion to the Premier League.

The Daily Mail have confirmed that Celtic are interested in the full-back and Neilson reckons it would be a good move for both parties.
Neilson told the Daily Record: “My time with George was very brief but it was great while it lasted. He was a star in that MK Dons team.
“He’s a very athletic player, has a superb attitude and works really hard at his game. He is a very good footballer and he would fit in well at Celtic.
“George’s biggest strength is he possesses real quality going forward. He is also very competitive, which is another attribute I’m sure the Celtic supporters will like about him.”

A cursed position
The position of right-back at Celtic has seemed a little cursed as of late. In recent years we’ve signed flops like Saidy Janko, Cristian Gamboa and Jeremy Toljan. Anthony Ralston hasn’t exactly made the position his own and Mikael Lustig has been little better.

It’s important that we sort the problem position this summer with an athletic and able first-choice. Our right-back has to be incredibly fit and good in possession. He also has to have a good final ball and be able to defend one on ones capably.
Lennon’s side is likely to throw the ball into the box more often next year so the quality of delivery will be crucial. Kieran Tierney is one of the best assist makers in the squad so to have the same option on the other side could prove to be invaluable.
