Celtic recently announced on social media that midfield prospect Scott Robertson signed a new two-year contract with the club.

The player, who has mostly featured for the academy side, will hopefully feature for the first-team squad eventually.

Robertson, who is only 17, recently featured for the Hoops in the 0-0 draw with Rennes. With the signing of the new deal, it is obvious that the powers at be at Celtic think that the player has a bright future in the came.

Hopefully that will be at Celtic. However, the Hoops have a surplus of midfielders in their squad. Perhaps a loan deal would be good for the player.

A loan move to a lower division side would give Robertson the chance to play football on a regular basis at the very start of his career.

Loan moves have helped other Celtic players further their career. The likes of Kristoffer Ajer and Ryan Christie have become first-team mainstays after loan spells at other clubs.

It is still very early in Robertson’s career, but it is a good sign that he has been involved with the first-team squad, and signed a new deal with the Hoops.

Perhaps in five years time he will be at the heart of the Celtic midfield. For now though, he is only at the start of his Hoops career.
