With the transfer window closing in around 10 hours time, Celtic have yet to make any additions to their squad after the signings of Patryk Klimala and Ismaila Soro.
However, there seems to be a glaring issue in the Celtic squad that needs to be solved before the clock strikes midnight and the window slams shut.
That issue is the lack of wide players currently available for the club. Scott Sinclair has left the club, Lewis Morgan looks set to do and Mohamed Elyounoussi has been out of action for almost two months.
Attacker could be out for months
The latest problem is the injury suffered by Mikey Johnston in the win over St Johnstone, which Neil Lennon disclosed could keep him out of action for a while.
The promising news though is that Lennon has recognised that the team might need to add another winger to the squad.
“Mikey got a bad one, we are just waiting to see but it’s going to be long term, a couple of months at least” Lennon said, as quoted by the Herald.
“It looks like there’s ligament damage there…if someone is available we will maybe possibly look at it but at the minute there’s nothing on the horizon.”
There is of course James Forrest who can play on the wing for the Hoops, and Marian Shved is sill at the club, although he never plays for the team.
But that is not really enough players in that position for a squad like Celtic, who are battling in three tournaments.
Hopefully Johnston’s prolonged absence makes the Hoops enter the transfer market for a winger.
Hoops need to enter market quickly
Who knows, perhaps Neil Lennon will swoop for Martin Boyle, who has been scouted by Celtic Head of Football Operations Nick Hammond.
You imagine that the signing of Boyle would be welcomed by the Celtic support, such is the need for a winger to be sign.
If Celtic haven’t signed another winger by the time the transfer window closes at midnight, it will be a disappointment.
