With no football on the horizon for the time being, we thought we’d take a look at some of the highlights of the season so far from a Celtic perspective.

When it comes to the best individual performance from a Celtic player so far this season, there have been some good displays.

Jeremie Frimpong’s display in the 4-0 win over Aberdeen for example. Mohamed Elyounoussi in the Betfred Cup semi-final was another.

However, when it comes down to it, there is really only one contender – Fraser Forster’s performance in the Betfred Cup Final against Rangers.

One of the best of all time

In years to come, Forster’s performance will be looked back on as one of the best individual performances by a Celtic goalkeeper of all time.

The Hoops did not play well at all in the game, against their oldest rivals, but were indebted to Forster for a series of fine saves.

He had practically a one man battle with Alfredo Morelos, with the Ibrox striker being denied on a number of occasions by the on-loan goalkeeper.

The biggest moment of the game revolved around the duo. With the Hoops 1-0 up, Rangers were awarded a penalty, and Jeremie Frimpong was ordered off.

At centre of vital moment

A goal for Rangers would have made them favourites to win the game. Morelos stepped up to take the spot kick…and Forster saved the penalty.

The Hoops then held on for a 1-0 win, with Forster at the heart of the frenzied post-match celebrations.

It has to be said, that Forster’s performance was probably equal to that of his display against Barcelona back in 2012, when he helped the Hoops to a legendary victory.

Who knows what the future holds for Forster. He is due to return to Southampton at the end of the season, but then of course we don’t know when the season will end.

Should Forster not play for the Hoops again, he will go down as a club legend for a number of performances, none more so than his Betfred Cup Final display.

Is Forster’s display the best Celtic individual performance of the season? Are there any other candidates? Share your thoughts below with a comment in our new discussion forum…
