Celtic’s striking situation has changed in the last few days, with the recent signing of Patryk Klimala. The Hoops now have four strikers vying it out for what is usually one place in the starting line-up.
That situation cannot be tenable, especially for players who have rarely featured for the first-team. One such player is Vakoun Bayo. He has been limited to only 12 appearances this season thanks to injuries and the form of Odsonne Edouard.
Could be considered fourth choice striker
Now that he is fit again, he will be eager to play first-team football. That is something he is unlikely to get at Celtic, where he could be considered fourth choice striker, with Leigh Griffiths also ahead of him.
Therefore, it was not a surprise to see the Scottish Sun report that Bayo has requested a loan move in the January transfer window, and that a move to another Scottish side hasn’t been ruled out.
However, Neil Lennon didn’t see too keen on granting Bayo’s request when he was asked about it on Friday.
“I have no inclination about that at all. Bayo has had a few injuries, but he is just coming back from a long-term injury. He is back in training now” Lennon said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
However, as the window gets ready to close and teams declare their interest in Bayo, Neil Lennon should change his mind, and grant the player his wish of a loan move.
Move will benefit player and hopefully boost his confidence
A move in the January window would suit the player far more than sitting in the stand at Celtic Park when the Hoops aren’t playing.
What Bayo needs is a move to a club that will play him regularly, and hopefully he can find the back of the net there on a regular basis.
Should that happen, he would return to Celtic full of confidence, and perhaps find himself in the manager’s plans.
