Celtic captain Scott Brown has possibly risked the wrath of opposition players and fans with his recent comments about the potential of the season ending early, but the Hoops skipper is correct.

At the moment, as football deals with the Coronavirus, we don’t yet know if the season will come to an early end, or will be delayed for months.

All options seem to be on the table

All the options seem to be on the table. Should the season be brought to an early end, then Celtic will end the campaign top of the league, and Brown reckons that is enough to see the Hoops declared as Champions.

If it ends then it stays as it is. We want to go out there and win as many games as we can, whether it’s in front of the fans or not. It would be sad if fans aren’t there because that’s what football’s about” Brown said, as quoted by the Celtic Twitter account.

It might be odd if the season finishes before the 38 game mark. However, we are currently in unprecedented times.

That might call for unprecedented measures, such as Celtic being crowned champions before the season was meant to end.

That would no doubt upset the other teams in the league, namely Rangers, who technically can still catch Celtic and be crowned champions, even though at this moment in time that does seem unlikely.

Hoops have been best team by far this season

However, as the Hoops have been the most consistent team since the start of the season, Celtic deserve to be crowned Champions if that is to happen.

That will be no fault of Celtic’s, the players do not deserve any criticism that may come their way should they celebrate what would be nine in a row.

Still, as it stands, Celtic are far and away the best team in the league. If that is how the league table has to end, then so be it.

Hopefully the season can be completed one way or another, even if that means it is delayed for a few months. However, if it has to be brought to an early conclusion, Brown is correct, the Hoops should be declared champions.
