One of the biggest stories of the day is Celtic’s announcement that the club has agreed a five-year deal with Adidas that will see the kit manufacturer make the Hoops’ strips for the next five years.

The fact the club headlined the announcement as ‘magnificent’ is a promising sign that the deal could be worth a lot of money, and interestingly, the club’s announcement states that it is ‘believed to be the biggest kit sponsorship ever to be announced across Scottish sport’.

That could mean a lot of money, as the Scottish Sun reported in March that the Hoops’ current deal with New Balance was worth £25 million, and the new deal will be worth more money than that.

Perhaps worth £30 million

Perhaps that means that for example, up to £30 million could be added to Celtic’s transfer budget over the next five years.

That could go a long way towards helping Celtic’s quest to win 10 in a row. At the moment, Scottish football is suspended due to the global health pandemic.

However, that is not going to last forever. At some stage, Celtic will return to action, or be crowned Premiership Champions, to win nine in a row.

Then it will be on to the battle to win 10 in a row. The added funds to the Celtic coffers could allow the Hoops to make at least one significant purchase in the quest for the title.

Big money signings have been a success

When you look at the big money purchases Celtic have made recently, Christopher Jullien and Odsonne Edouard, they have been massively influential in the Hoops’ recent success.

Now, with the money from Adidas, Celtic could make another big signing, when the transfer window reopens.

There is no excuse for the Hoops not to make at least one major signing when the transfer window opens, as the club has the money, and they have seen the success that big money purchases can bring to the club.

Another one of those types of signings could well be the player that gives the Hoops the advantage when it comes to the title race, and winning 10 in a row.
