It seems certain that Celtic will be signing a striker in the January transfer window. The Hoops need one to take some pressure off Odsonne Edouard, who is the only forward at the club who has been in good form since the start of the season.
It remains to be seen who the Hoops bring in, but hopefully the signing helps the Hoops clinch nine in a row. There is another reason that Celtic will need to bring in a striker though, and it is one that some Hoops fans may not be aware of.
Could be selected for tournament

That is that Odsonne Edouard has indicated that he would like to be part of the France squad for the Olympic Games next summer.
Should Edouard be selected for the competition, which he has a good chance to as it is made up of under-23 players, he could miss a number of Celtic’s European qualifiers next season. The tournament runs from the 23rd of July to the 8th of August, right in the middle of Celtic’s qualifiers.
“Very important competition”

“It’s a very important competition, one that every sportsman dreams of participating in. I have waited a long time to be called up by France at this level, and I am keen to do well, so I make an impression” Edouard said in regard to the Olympics, as quoted by the Scottish Sun in November.
Edouard’s possible absence should add urgency to Celtic’s potential striker dealings. The new man should be signed before the Hoops head to Dubai for winter training. That would give the player time to get settled in at the club both this season and next season, when Edouard could be missing.
Celtic need to plan ahead for both this season and next season in January transfer window. That is why any new signing must be completed as soon as possible. Who knows if it will be Andraz Sporar, who has been linked with the Hoops. All we know is that if Edouard possibly at the Olympics, any deal must be done very soon.
