Oliver Burke has been a player reborn since joining Celtic from West Brom in January. He has gone from being a bit-part player at the Hawthorns to a regular for the Bhoys.
He has taken to life in Glasgow with aplomb, with three goals and two assists in his seven appearances for the Hoops so far.
His statistics are very impressive. Even more so when you consider that he has not been playing in his natural position on the wing. Due to injuries, he has mostly played up-front for the club since joining.
It is all well and good playing well against teams in Scotland. Now Burke’s career resurgence now faces its biggest test yet.
It seems that he will be tasked with playing up-front against Valencia in the Europa League clash.
Brendan Rodgers may not want to risk Odsonne Edouard when he is just back from injury. If that is the case, Burke seems certain to be the Hoops’ striker on the night.
Should Burke be up-front, he will have to improve on his finishing. Despite his three goals he has missed some great chances for the Bhoys.
In the recent 5-0 win over St Johnstone, he had two assists but missed a great chance when through on goal.
Burke will be under no illusions about how difficult a task it will be against Valencia. But if he is on his game, he is more than capable of being the match-winner for the Hoops.
