Celtic could be set for a transfer battle with bitter rivals Rangers, according to a report. The Daily Record claims that both sides are interested in signing Kilmarnock left-back Greg Taylor.
However, the report also claims that Hull City want to sign the player, and that the Hoops would need to sell a left-back before making any move for the Scotland international.
One left-back has departed

The notion of selling a left-back seems a bit odd. The Hoops have already saw Emilio Izaguirre head out of the club this summer.
There is only one natural left-back in the squad at the moment, Kieran Tierney. He is recovering from a double hernia operation, so will be out of action for a while yet.

That leaves Jonny Hayes as the only current senior left-back that is fit at the club. You can understand why the Hoops could be interested in Taylor then.
One thing could complicate any deal
Taylor is likely to be in-demand after breaking into the Scotland team. However, the fact that Kilmarnock don’t currently have a manager could complicate any deal for the player.

The new boss will presumably want to keep Taylor. However, it all depends on what clubs are willing to offer Kilmarnock for the player.
Of the three clubs credited with an interest, Celtic would presumably be able to offer the most money.
The Hoops seem to be focused on getting other deals done at the moment – David Turnbull for example. That does not mean that Taylor won’t end up a Celtic player in the future though.
