It seems likely that Dedryck Boyata’s departure from Celtic is soon to be confirmed. A Report from BZ Berlin in Germany claims that Boyata is set to join Hertha Berlin on a free transfer in the summer.
Boyata’s deal with Celtic expires in the summer, and the player has never looked like signing a new deal with the club.
Boyata’s likely departure on a free is the legacy of a dismal summer transfer window for Celtic. The Hoops broke the club’s transfer record to sign Odsonne Edouard at the start of the summer. But after that, nothing happened.
Doubts surrounded his future
All the while, doubts surrounded Boyata’s future. Most notably, the Hoops turned down a reported bid from Fulham for the player.
Brendan Rodgers seemed determined to keep the player, but the move backfired when Boyata missed the crucial Champions League qualifier against AEK Athens.

Rodgers claimed that he was fit to play, and his absence was felt as the Hoops crashed to a 2-1 defeat.
