Reported Celtic scouting of Sebastian Andersson is good sign for January
With the January transfer window only a matter of weeks away from opening, Celtic will be on the hunt to add players to their squad.
The Hoops could well be after a striker, to augment those already at the club. Plenty of players will be linked to the club in the run-up to the window, with the latest being Union Berlin’s Sebastian Andersson.
Bild are reporting that the Hoops are amongst a number of clubs who are set to scout the player in action against Paderborn on Saturday. The other clubs credited with an interest include Ajax, Villarreal and Brighton.
Good record this so far this season
The striker has scored nine goals for Union Berlin this season in 15 games, which is an excellent record. Interestingly, the player’s contract expires at the end of the season. However, perhaps it would be a better idea for the Hoops to try to bring the player into the club in January.
Celtic are in need of another striker, as the trio who are currently at the club have all dealt with injuries at one time or another. The signing of a player who has already scored nine goals in Germany this season would be a major boost to the Hoops’ bid for nine in a row and run to the later stages of the Europa League.
Could add new dimension to Hoops side
Intriguingly, the player’s height is listed at 190 cm – which is 6 feet 3 inches. Celtic haven’t had a tall striker for a while, Andersson could add a new dimension to the side.
It remains to be seen if the player will end up at Celtic Park either in January or in the summer. However, it is a good sign if that is the standard of player that the Hoops are targeting. Celtic should aim to sign some big players in January, Andersson certainly fits the category in more ways than one.
