It seems that Celtic are in the market for a left-back in the current transfer window. Sky Sports reported that the Hoops had a loan bid for PSG’s Mitchel Bakker turned down.
Sky Sports’ news editor Anthony Joseph then reported on Twitter that Celtic’s priority in the window is to sign a left-back.
One man who must be watching all this with interest is the player who is Celtic’s current first choice left-back, Greg Taylor.
Regular starter so far this season
Taylor has been a regular for the Hoops this season, making six appearances. However, it seems that not everyone has impressed with his performances so far.
As reported by 67HailHail, Chris Sutton called Taylor ‘okay’ and ‘decent’ recently but called for the Hoops to add a left-back to the squad.

Taylor will know that Celtic are in the hunt for a left-back, as Boli Bolingoli’s future at the club seems uncertain. However, for the time being, he is the number choice at left-back for Neil Lennon.
He should use the speculations and rumours to spur his game on, and improve his performances. Taylor hasn’t actually performed that poorly for Celtic this season.
He has been solid, and the fact that Neil Lennon has chosen him to start every game this season should boost his confidence.
It seems inevitable that a left-back will be signed
However, Celtic can’t go through the season with only one proper left-back in contention for a first-team place. It seems inevitable that a left-back will arrive before the transfer window closes.

Taylor can use the time between now and when the new player arrives to up his game to an extent that he remains first choice even after a new signing is made.
The new signing will need to earn his place in the side if Taylor performs to his highest capabilities. That would be a good thing not just for the player, but for Celtic overall.
Hopefully this begins against Ross County on Saturday afternoon. A good confidence boosting performance by Taylor would be a great start to an important run of games for the player and the club.
In other news, Neil Lennon is correct not to compare Shane Duffy to Bobo Balde.
