Despite playing only a third of the match, Scott Sinclair is likely to take the vast majority of the headlines from Celtic’s convincing 5-0 cup win over Partick Thistle.
The game was already tied up when the Englishman replaced Mohamed Elyounoussi in the 66th minute. The winger’s appearance may have been enough to make headlines but the fact he scored just 10 minutes into his first-team return will really make waves.

This was Sinclair’s first competitive appearance since early August after all. Nine matches had past but Sinclair didn’t look off the pace in any way. Quite the opposite actually.
His calmly taken finish, and celebration that was anything but calm, showed that he still has a desire to succeed at Celtic. And that could be important.

Sinclair offers far more than Morgan
The winger must now be given another opportunity to put an impact on the team. Lewis Morgan, who started the match, should never be ahead of him in the pecking order. Neither should the likable Jonny Hayes.

Sinclair looks like he may have the fire back in his belly and that could be a great thing for Lennon and Celtic. If we can get him back firing and on the outskirts of the first-team he could really drive on the likes of Elyounoussi and Mikey Johnston further.
It was really pleasing to see Sinclair in action against the Jags. Hopefully it’s not another nine games before we see him again.
