We continue our season review of the Celtic squad in 2018/19 with a look at Celtic’s number 59, Calvin Miller.
Calvin Miller has not featured for the Celtic first-team for a while. In fact, last season he was loaned out to two different teams, Dundee and then Ayr United.
Interestingly, he made 30 appearances in all last season, featuring semi-regularly for both sides. As he didn’t feature at Celtic last season, most would think his time at the club could be coming to an end.
Unexpected chance in the future?
However, he could be given an unexpected chance to resurrect his Hoops career. It all depends on the future of Kieran Tierney.
Should Tierney leave Celtic, Miller could have a future at the club. Miller has played at left-back for Celtic in the past, and he could be useful on occasion as a back-up to the new left-back that comes into the side.
Could leave if mainstay stays
However, should Tierney stay at Celtic, you would imagine that Miller’s time at the club will come to an end.
Perhaps Neil Lennon will be a fan of Miller though. It is a clean slate for the fringe players at Celtic. They have the chance to impress the new manager during the pre-season tour to Austria.
Miller could be a stand-out in the friendlies played in Austria. However, you would have to imagine that unless things change quite dramatically, the player’s future lies away from Celtic.
