It goes without saying that the form player in Scotland in the early weeks of the season is Aberdeen striker Sam Cosgrove.
The attacker took his tally to six for the season with a hat-trick in Aberdeen’s 5-0 Europa League win over Chikhura Sachkhere.
He already showed his form last season with 21 goals. His early season form will no doubt attract the attention of plenty of clubs. A question that has to be asked is – will one of those clubs be Celtic?
Fans might not be in favour of signing
Some supporters might not be in favour of signing a striker from a team that finished fourth in the league last season.
They could also point out that the Hoops already have three strikers on their books.
Could add powerful presence to side
Those comments would be correct. But Cosgrove could add a more powerful presence to the side, that arguably Celtic’s current forwards lack.
One thing to take into account is that Aberdeen seem determined not to sell the player. Derek McInnes revealed, as reported by the Daily Record that the player won’t be sold this season.
However, if Celtic really want the player, there is no doubt they can afford him. Although they will not want to overpay for Cosgrove.
Should Cosgrove keep this excellent form going until the end of the August transfer window then clubs will definitely bid for the player. It remains to be seen if Celtic will number among those clubs.
