Should Scott Sinclair leave, the ideal replacement is already at Celtic

It seems that Scott Sinclair’s future at Celtic is currently uncertain. A report in the Evening Times claims that Preston North End are considering a £2.5 million bid for the player.

Should the Hoops decide to accept the bid, there will no doubt be calls for the club to spend big money on a replacement.

However, Sinclair’s replacement may already be at the club. That player is Mikey Johnston. Now, Johnston will have a long way to go to emulate how well Sinclair has done for Celtic.

Already shown he will be a big player this season

But, he has already shown in his appearances in both pre-season and competitive games that he will be a big player for the Hoops this season.

He showed his abilities with a brilliant goal in the 3-1 win over Sarajevo which dragged the Hoops back into the tie and got their Champions League campaign up and running.

Would get boost from manager’s decision

Johnston is still at the start of his career, he is only 20. But imagine the boost he would get to his career if Neil Lennon informed him that he would be Scott Sinclair’s permanent replacement in the side.

He has already replaced Sinclair on a temporary basis this season, so Lennon must believe the player can do a job for the Hoops this season.

Even if Sinclair doesn’t leave the Hoops in the transfer window, Johnston should be a regular this season. If he does though, Johnston is just the man to replace him.
